Lachen village lodges and homestays
Lachen has fewer and simpler places to stay than Lachung. Most are small lodges or homestays with plain rooms, thick quilts, attached or shared bathrooms and a dining room serving dinner and an early breakfast or packed meal.
Facilities are basic: power cuts and lukewarm water are common, and heating is rare. But staff understand the Gurudongmar routine and will wake you, feed you and have you in the car on time. A few better hotels exist at higher prices if you ask your operator.

Are there better hotels in Lachen?
A handful of better-built hotels charge about ₹3,500–7,000 a room with meals. Standards are still simpler than Lachung. Ask your operator for the best available if comfort matters, and book early in peak months. Even the better places may have power cuts and limited heating.
Will I get hot water in Lachen?
Usually, by geyser or bucket, though power cuts can interrupt it. Many travellers skip a bath before the 4 am Gurudongmar start and wash on return. Carry wet wipes. In winter, ask for a bucket of hot water at a set time rather than relying on the geyser.
Can I stay two nights in Lachen?
Yes, and it is a good idea for acclimatisation. Tell your operator when booking, as most packages assume one night. Expect to pay for an extra night of room and vehicle. The extra night is also a chance to visit the monastery and walk the village.
