Yuksom village homestays

Yuksom is a small village at 1,780 m, and much of its accommodation is in family homes and small lodges around the central lanes and towards Dubdi Monastery. Rooms are simple and clean, often wood-panelled, with shared or attached bathrooms. Dinner is usually rice, dal, a local green such as nettle or fern shoots, and a meat or egg dish.
Hosts are often connected to trekking guides, porters and yak or pony owners, which makes them useful when arranging a trek or a day walk. We do not name individual homes here because they change hands and standards; we pick them each season on recent stays.

Questions travellers ask
Good to know
Can I leave luggage at a Yuksom homestay during a trek
Usually, yes. Most homestays will store a bag safely while you trek to Dzongri or Goecha La, often free if you stay with them before and after. Lock it, label it with your name and dates, and keep passports and permits with you on the trek. Confirm the arrangement when you book.
What do Yuksom homestays serve for food
Expect home food: rice, dal, a vegetable such as squash or local greens, pickle, and often chicken or egg. Breakfast is usually bread, eggs, or puri and potato curry. Some hosts make churpi soup or sel roti on request. Vegetarian meals are easy to arrange. Bottled water is sold in the village, but most homes give boiled water if you ask.
Is there mobile signal in Yuksom
Yes, in the village. BSNL, Jio and Airtel usually work in Yuksom, with 4G that slows in the evening and in bad weather. Signal fades soon after you leave on the Goecha La trail and is patchy at Tshoka and Dzongri, so tell family your plan before you start. Some homestays have Wi-Fi, but do not count on it.
