The Norbu Ghang Resort

Norbu Ghang is one of the older established properties in Pelling, built in stepped blocks down the hillside so that most rooms look across the Rathong valley to the snow peaks. It is a short walk from the Upper Pelling helipad ground and the main row of restaurants.
Rooms are plain and warm, with heaters in winter. Service is steady rather than polished. Prices swing with the season: October, the Puja holidays and late December are the most expensive, while the monsoon brings large discounts.
Why we book it
- Most rooms face the range, which is why you come to Pelling
- Walkable to Upper Pelling restaurants and the helipad viewpoint

Questions travellers ask
Good to know
Where is Norbu Ghang in Pelling
It is in Upper Pelling, the higher of Pelling's two clusters, at around 2,100 m. The helipad ground, which is the best free viewpoint in town, and most restaurants are within a 5 to 10-minute walk. Cars can drive to the reception. Pemayangtse Monastery is about 3 km away by road.
Does it suit families with small children
Yes, with a caution. The cottages are on terraces linked by steps, so a pram is no use and toddlers need watching on the stairways. Family rooms sleep three or four. The restaurant serves simple Indian, Chinese and Sikkimese food, which children usually eat without fuss. Ask for a lower block if anyone in your group finds steps hard.
When are rooms cheapest
From mid-June to mid-September, during the monsoon, rates usually drop well below the rack price, and January and February can also be cheaper. October, the Durga Puja and Diwali holidays, and Christmas to New Year are the most expensive and sell out first. Prices are indicative, so confirm the current rate directly or through us before you travel.
