Lolegaon village homestays

Lolegaon is a small Lepcha village on a ridge, and most stays are rooms in family houses or small cottages in the garden. Many have a view down the valley, and some face the Kanchenjunga range. Food is home-style and plentiful, often with vegetables from the family plot.
Standards vary, so ask about bathrooms, hot water and road access. The village is quiet after dark, with no restaurants to speak of, so all meals come from your host. Hosts can arrange an early car to Jhandi Dara and a guide for forest walks.

Questions travellers ask
Good to know
How many nights should I stay in Lolegaon?
One night is enough for the canopy walk, the Jhandi Dara sunrise and a village stroll. Stay two if you want a full lazy day in the forest or are coming from Siliguri without breaking the journey. Many travellers combine one night in Lolegaon with one or two in Lava and Rishop.
Is there mobile signal in Lolegaon?
Signal is patchy. Jio and Airtel usually work in parts of the village, but can drop indoors or in bad weather. Some homestays have Wi-Fi that runs only when power is on. Download maps and confirm your onward car before you arrive, and tell family you may be out of reach for a night.
What do homestays in Lolegaon cost?
Expect roughly ₹1,400–2,000 a person per night including all meals, indicative. Rooms with the best views or new bathrooms cost a little more. Children often pay less. A car to Jhandi Dara at sunrise costs extra, typically ₹600–1,000 for the vehicle. Prices rise in October and during school holidays.
