The white stupa at Salugara monastery

Salugara monastery was founded by Tibetan monks, and its tall white stupa is believed to have been built under the Tibetan lama Kalu Rinpoche. The stupa is said to hold relics and is circled by prayer wheels. Monks live and study in the buildings around it, and the prayer hall is usually open to respectful visitors.
The visit takes less than an hour. Walk clockwise around the stupa, turning the prayer wheels as you go, and keep your voice low near the prayer hall. Combine it with the Coronation Bridge and the Sevokeshwari Kali temple on the same road for an easy half day. Mornings are cooler and quieter, with fewer visitors from the city.
