Walk through Temi Tea Garden

The estate spreads down a long hillside below Temi bazaar, with a road winding through it. Stop at the factory and sales counter, then walk along the bushes for views of the valley and, on clear days, Kangchenjunga. The estate is known for its orthodox black tea, sold under the Temi name.
Plucking runs from March to November, with the first flush in spring and the autumn flush in October and November. Factory visits depend on the season and on permission at the gate, so ask on arrival rather than expecting a tour.
Questions travellers ask
Good to know
How do I get to Temi Tea Garden from Ravangla
Temi is about 20–25 km from Ravangla, roughly 1 hour by car. A reserved car for the round trip costs about ₹2,000–2,800. Temi can also be visited on the way between Ravangla and Gangtok or Namchi, which saves a separate trip. Shared jeeps pass Temi bazaar, but the estate is spread out, so a car is easier.
Can I tour the tea factory at Temi
Sometimes. Factory visits are not a fixed tourist service and depend on the season, the workload and permission from the estate. Ask at the factory gate on arrival. Even without a tour, you can walk along the estate road, watch plucking in season, and buy tea at the sales counter.
Is there a place to stay at Temi Tea Garden
There is a small Sikkim government bungalow at the estate and a few homestays in nearby villages. Most visitors stay in Ravangla or Namchi and come for a few hours. A night on the estate is quiet and good for walks at dawn among the bushes; book well ahead through the relevant government office or a local agency.
